COLLEGE BASKETBALL ON CBS SPORTSLINE
cbs.sportsline.com/collegebasketball |
Can you imagine a more comprehensive site when it comes to college basketball? I don't think so. CBS SportsLine has each team's schedule, roster and injury list; it provides a breakdown of every game played in a season; an alumni tracker for each team so you can see which NBA team drafted past college stars. It projects how teams will finish in each conference; fantasy teams; contests; and more. There's even a bit of info on the women's NCAA if you search long enough. The price you pay for this wealth of information? A very slo-o-o-o-w site. Also, the site crashed Netscape repeatedly, but it came up fine (but slowly) on Microsofts Internet Explorer- might work better on Netscape.

MICHAEL JORDAN'S OFFICIAL WEBSITE
jordan.sportsline.com
This section of the CBS Sportsline Web site is devoted to all things his Michealness: season highlights going back to 1984, action photos, trivia, charities sponsored, even health tips from Jordan's personal trainer. The game highlights are up-to-date, but a linked contest ended three months ago and the latest chat was eight months old. Additionally, visitors to the site can submit questions to Jordan and--time permitting--he'll answer all of five questions each month. Better have some cash, the shop dishes up $1,600 autographed balls and jerseys. Strangely, the photos adorning each page are tinted blue, which makes Jordan look like the genie from Aladdin.

IT'S FANTASTIC
www.nba.com
This site thoroughly covers events from the night before with game summaries, pictures, and video highlights, but anything older than, say, two days might as well not exist. Decades of NBA history go missing and to review a game from last week you have to check the individual team pages and hope that one of them will have it. The site has other special features and every one of them seems to have a sponsor attached. Statistics on league leaders in two dozen categories are presented by IBM, for example, and the virtual GM contest, in which you pick a new team daily or weekly to score points and try to win a trip to the 2002 NBA finals, is provided by sport drink maker Gatorade.
